The U9 Girls Instructional Lacrosse Info
New in 2018: All U9 girls will have a full 8 game schedule against other towns.
The goal for the U-9 season is to make sessions fun for the kids while teaching the basic skills of lacrosse. We will introduce the fundamentals such as cradling, catching, passing, shooting, picking up ground balls, and defensive positioning.
Schedule: Registration will include indoor sessions (to begin in late March) in the winter as well as the spring season.
April - 8th, 22nd, 29th
May - 6th, 13th, 20th
June - 3rd, 10th
June - 16th - 17th (U9, U11, U13, U15) - MBGLL Jamboree - Chelmsford, MA
• All players new to the U9 program will receive (and can keep) a new regulation size lacrosse stick with carrying bag, and goggles at the first practice.
• Sneakers should be worn for the indoor practices and either sneakers or cleats for outdoor practices.
• A colored mouth guard is required (no clear mouth guards please)
• All players should have a water bottle to ensure good hydration
Ideas/recommendations are always welcome to make this season the best experience possible for the girls.
MYL volunteer coaches will be coaching this season along with help from our Girls High School lacrosse players. Parent volunteers are not only welcome and very much encouraged to participate. Prior experience with the game is not required.
Please pass the word around if you know of anyone else that may be interested in participating.
